# Align along an axis like Blender3D

When using the “ **Align Tool** ,” it attaches the object to the other object. I only want it to align along the “Z” axis while keeping “X” and “Y” fixed. This is not possible with the “Align Tool.” I want to align only along the axis, similar to how it works in Blender3D software; I don’t want the entire object to attach together.

See this [link](https://discourse.shapr3d.com/t/align-is-useful-when-you-know-how-to-use-it/30489). I have had issues with the Align tool since day one and I’ve just learned that I have a love/hate relationship with it. Sometimes Translate is the better tool.
