**The problem that this feature will solve:**

As Shapr3d unfortunately doesn’t have any sort of versioning system or a way to create “checkpoints”, I often rely on testing and then using the undo function. However, sometimes it is not evident what operation has been undone, meaning it’s easy to undo beyond the intended point. It’s not as easy as just using the history list, as there might be changes not reflected in the history, such as modifying a sketch.

**Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:**

It would be very helpful if undoing simply showed a small toast with the name of the operation that was done. Better yet, it would be great to be able to press and hold the undo button and get a list of the latest operations where it would be possible to directly jump back to a specific steps.

Of course, even better than that, it would be amazing to be able to create a checkpoint, allowing you to try something crazy/risky, and them simply reverting back to the checkpoint if needed. Currently the only way to do this is to create copies of the project, which is cumbersome, and also puts you completely out of luck when using the free version with only two projects allowed.

The fact that “what” isn’t represented in Undo has always struck me as a major oversight.
(Did this last minuscule edit take place or not?)

A small body can be created as a marker to make this easier and set a clear point in time. Just repeat “Undo” until it’s gone.

Creating a body as a marker is a pretty clever, haven’t thought about that!

I just realized that Shapr3D actually does keep a file history and lets you jump back in time. However, due to autosaving, it’s basically just a list of timestamps. It would be enough to just be able to somehow insert a label (basically, a “checkpoint” button that let’s you enter a label and auto-saves with this label). If this label can then be shown in the version list, that would help a lot and would basically be a decent versioning system!

Wouldn’t renaming important steps in the History already solve much of this?

For example, you could rename the step where you want to be able to return to. If you later want to start again from that point, you can simply place a breakpoint there and continue from that point.

The advantage is that the later History steps aren’t deleted. So you don’t have to recreate things like fillets afterwards.

I assume you meant moving specific steps in History back to before breakpoint.

Benefits for a _singel_ Undo showing the action, if you:

- do a maneuver that does not show in History.
- make a complex command that takes ‘for ever’, back with a coffee you dont know if it failed.
- miss the error that flashes shortly in illegible white text on gray.
- change a name in Items, but instead give almost unknown random command (happens to me all the time 🙂)
- etc etc

To reverse a sequence you need to have split vision looking a the History.

- you are uncertain if all the steps ‘took’ and want to reverse and then go back to the latest status.

I would love to have a drop down at Undo with say, the last ten commands (every command).

A related tip, working for Items and History is (macOS: function(fn)-e
