# Cannot Export to STL

Hi Guys,
It doesnt seem to let me export this to an STL but cannot figure out why? Just keep getting Cannot export file error when I try. Any Ideas?

If it will export as another file type, but just not STL, one thing you can try is cutting the model into quadrants and attempting to export each section. My guess is one of those sections won’t export. If it exported previously, go back and look at the last few things you modified. You likely created an illegal body or Boolean error somewhere that’s preventing the system from generating a valid STL.

Whats the best way to find the key problem, is there anywhere that highlights it/things to look out for?

Hi @Wizzy ,
It’s quite possible that there are some parts that are invalid, thus the export fails.
Following @Devvon’s suggestion: You can split the design into smaller parts and try to export them, if any part won’t export, you’ll need to search for invalid sections (tiny openings or very small edges close to the conversion tolerance).
