I’ve tried installing the app both through the standalone installer and the Microsoft store. I can open the app and get to the point where I choose my input style and then the background goes black. the tutorial continues and inputs are accepted, but I cant see any work space or display.

This might be due to an Nvidia driver bug. Can you try to use the ‘Power-saving’ GPU instead of the ‘High-performance’? [How to set default GPU for apps on Windows 10 • Pureinfotech](https://pureinfotech.com/set-gpu-app-windows-10/)

Thank you, I was able to fix it that way. I also found I was able to keep it on high performance by switching this setting on my Nvidia control panel.
