I’m on the iPad version…
This changed a few years ago, but I’ve never understood what’s happening or how to fix it. I’m trying to draw a line, then rotate it around the origin. However, when I switch to the Move/Rotate tool, it says the line is locked. I see a constraint, and delete the constraint, but I still can’t move or copy the line.

I would love to understand WHY this happens, and would appreciate help in figuring out how and where it is locked, how to delete the unseen constraint, and maybe even shut this feature off altogether.

I usually create a construction plane and draw the lines, but it’s an extra step.

Thanks!

I don’t really understand why you need move/rote tool for that but here is how to deal with it

Also in the end I’m showing how to rotate without move/rotate tool 🙂

I see the constraint on the top, but I don’t have any other constraint on the line, unless I’m just not seeing it. Is my issue also related to it trying to draw on the face of the object?

Here’s what I’m seeing…and no second constraint when the line is selected. Is this a bug?

I don’t think so. The bottom constraint isn’t a regular constraint — it’s a connection. It doesn’t appear with the usual constraint icon, but you can see it if you select the point.

In my case, the vertical constraint was automatically generated by Shapr3D’s auto-constraint feature.

That worked…thank you!! I really appreciate you taking the time to clarify.

Overall, I’d recommend using sketch constraints instead of the Move/Rotate tool.

Wow! That’s much easier. I learned something today! 😊

I’d say this is the only correct way if you’re interested in parametric modeling.
