Being able to set the grid parameters, format, size, only once per design would be helpful.

Hi,

You can lock the grid size in the grid settings:

Formats aren’t changed once you set them.

I also forgot to add, it would be nice if i could set the grid lock format andnot be required to re-set each new design. It should be the other way. Most people will utilize the same format greater than 50% of the time. I’d rather change my preset rather than setting it each time.

Yes and no. While I am working on the design it can be locked. However, the moment I close the file /design the setting goes away and when I load it again, I have to reset the lock parameters. If I could set it, save the file on my tablet, reopen on my computer, or any combination, it would be nice if i didn’t need to reset my grid

Which app version are you using? I’ve checked, and it’s persisted, even after file export and import.

Edit: It will be fixed in 5.430 coming out soon, I was using that version, apologies.

5.410.0.5390 #145d4004 and the beta. I just verified and it did not persist on either.

I have a suspicion, which may be very helpful to your development.

I am obviously not a trained designer. So my design process may not function in the same way as yours. So I task the system in ways your design team may not consider.

Let me attempt to explain. My “designs” are separated into catagories ( I have attached a screenshot). I wouldn’t expect that should make a difference. All it is is a slew of bodies.

I separate designs within the catagories with folders. All I am doing is grouping like bodies. On occasion may change grid size, but not units. I delete bodies sketches…etc.

It definitely has something to do with how I utilize the program(s). If it fuctions properly with you then I doubt both the beta and the regular versions I am using would have the same issue. I would expect I am manipulating the program in a way that is causing it to happen. I see two possibilities.

1- determine what I am doing. This could be simple or complex. I am part of a rapidly growing group of 3d printing enthusiasts who I believe is a target market. So understanding this anomaly is important. Potentially a time consuming process.

2- make grid lock and units part of the preferences, with the ability to modify if desired. This way it can be changed but each new design begins with the unit and grid set to my preferred formats.

Or something similar.

Will this also affect the beta?

Depends on which Beta group you are in. But versions 5.430 should have this fix.

I’m in the initial group with Peter. 5.420 is the version.
