# Deleting from an imported object

If I imported an object, can I delete part of it. For example if I imported a motor, can I create a square and put into the motor and delete the area that square is inside the motor. I tried it with subtract and it doesn’t work

It depends a bit on the creation of the original model and the format it was imported with. However, in most cases, you can remove portions of an item by creating a sketch on a plane offset for the body. Then extrude the sketch. As soon as it contacts the original body, it will begin to remove that portion of the body. Imagine it being like sculpting.

No that didn’t work. I don’t think its possible to do it
