# Deleting Sketches

When deleting a ‘sketch’ why does it also delete the drawing made from it? It’s infuriating because my parts list contains loads of ‘sketches’ cluttering up the list that I can’t remove without losing the drawings.

Yes. Bodies are made off sketches, and deleting a sketch will affect them if missing.

You have 2 courses of action.

1. move (or group) the sketches under a single folder. This is the easiest to do so they dont clutter up your “items” I normally just name the new folder sketches, and just keep dragging them in there.

**It would be nice if they would just make the app place them normally in their own separate folder to begin with**

1. if you’ve gotten to a point where you aren’t going to manipulate the bodies any further from moving sketches, you can always just “merge” the history and choose the “delete sketches”. This will cause the bodies to loose their reference to them.
