# Drawing - diagonal measure

Hello!

I am drawing 4000x5960mm frame for cabin walls. Want to see measure from corner to corner diagonally. Then my buddy can check that before the frame is fastened on concrete.  
Now when i try to put in point-to-point measure it comes vertically, not diagonally.  
Am i doing something wrong?

Hi, you are not doing anything wrong 🙂 just select the dimension and set it to _Absolute_!

It seems to me that _absolute_ should be the default for point-to-point measurements.

Reasoning: I’m not trying to be snarky… in Euclidean geometry is the distance between two points is a straight line.

Is there some other usage pattern that I’m overlooking?

It’s hard to tell if there are any patterns, each software has its own characteristic. If you find something that feels strange, just let us know. We will either explain it or show another solution.
