# Edit a projection like a sketch?

I’ve projected a face onto a plane and would like to edit the projection before extruding it similar to editing a sketch. For example using trim.  
Is this possible or am I completely misunderstanding this.

Deselect the linked sketch option when you project.

Why can’t it be unlinked afterwards?
