# Editing lengths without the rest of the shapes change

Hi all,

New shapr3D user here, so please point me in the right direction if this is an obvious question.

I’m creating building layouts for an assignment, but when I edit the length of one wall, the rest of the building seems to try and shift in proportion, changing all the other lenghts which I don’t want. Anyone know how to avoid this happening?

Hey! Can you please tell us what tool you have used for lengthening the walls? The [Extrude and Offset Face tools](https://support.shapr3d.com/hc/en-us/articles/7874453786908-Extrude) should modify the parts in one direction.

Please upload some pictures, they would help a lot
