# Expand Forum Categories!

I’m familiar with this forum Platform, it is used everywhere.
Can we expand the Categories?
Here are some I frequent for inspiration:

The platform is called [Discourse](https://discourse.org), in case you didn’t know. It’s open-source and free to use, by the way.

But you didn’t mention which categories you’re proposing to add?

I would say that would be more open-ended consideration
Suggested categories by others and possibly implemented.

I’d say let’s create a list first, and then we can ask the admins to add those categories. Asking to add something without even knowing what exactly it is seems pointless to me.

I’m an admin in a dozen different communities. To be honest, I stopped suggesting categories a long time ago. Very few people understand what belongs where, and I constantly have to go around hitting everyone with a stick, explaining that the topic doesn’t fit.

Few I noticed while reviewing other forums.
- Works in Progress (addition to Share your creation)
- Off topics/Water Cooler
In this section, you can post other topics that don’t fit the other sections of the forum.
- Getting Started (populated by Official and unofficial links to tutorials)
**Enable tags..**
Example, Modeling, Rendering, Drawing, Mesh, 3d Printing, CNC, Architecture, Woodworking, Engineering, Crafts, Carpentry
Some might wonder why additional Categories, the purpose would be to better organize and make it easier to search.

As an admin you could consider moving it to correct categories.

Especially in the Share your creations. If projects can be organized/tagged by type of project that would be helpful.
