# Export to parameterised formats

**The problem that this feature will solve:**
Shapr3D allows parametric designs. I use parameters in all my projects and I post many of them on makerworld. However, the exported objects are not parametrised. Many people asked me for different variations or directly for parameterised models, but I cannot share them because there is no option to export into a parameterisable format.
**Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:**
_With this feature, Shapr3D would allow exporting models to OpenScad format or to parameterised STLs formats._
**What can’t you achieve without this feature?**
_I can use Shapr3D for modeling, but while parameters can be used during design, they can’t really be used by anyone else._

It would be great to have access to parameters from the web view and apply changes.

I would love this. It would make generating an OpenSCAD file so much more intuitive and less human-error-prone. I’ve avoided OpenSCAD for my 3D print designs for that reason.

One example is fin alignment jigs for model rockets. Parameters like number of fins, thickness of fins, and span of fins.

Yes thats why it would be great to see an example, because im intrigued.
If you can point to a STL and some documentation I would like to try it.
FYI I did a search on google on the subject, just didn’t find how to make it all working.

I really doubt that there is such a thing as a parameterized STL. There can be some kind of generators that produce STL files using parameters.

I have been modeling for 3 years and I have never seen parametric STL files. I do not think there is such a thing.

Agreed. The best you could hope for is for Shapr to add OpenSCAD export, which I’m sure is much easier said than done.
