Great that we have fillets on sketches. I’m sure this is user error, but I can’t figure out how to keep the overall dimensions of a sketch while adjusting the fillet radius. i.e. make a rectangle, add fillet to all four corners using r variable. now retain the overall size of the rectangle while adjusting the fillet radius?

Thanks!

Could you share an example for this?

Mine keeps it’s dimensions on applying fillets.

It’s not applying the fillet it’s changing it’s value after being applied. So in your case, make the rectangle and create the fillets, setting the fillet radius to the variable r. then change the variable value. The overall size of the rectangle changes.

Ah yes! I think this is because at the point of the radius change the rectangle is no longer constrained as such. It’s just straight lines and arcs. So increasing the arcs sizes will also push the lines out since their lengths didn’t change

I think with the current implementation of sketch fillets that’s unfortunately just how it works. The sketch doesn’t “remember” it’s a filleted rectangle after the first fillet creation. 🤔

I guess you could set those lengths to (length-(2\*radius)) if that’s possible and lock the center?

Wait if you got Sketch locked up you can’t fillet sketch, thats kinda dumb!

yeah it does seem like a limitation I can’t seem to work around. For me, I generally know how big I want something to be and the fillet radius is an aesthetic choice I want to experiment with. not always, but probably more often than not.

(edit)
Ok, well it is possible by creating the fillets, deleting the segments and setting up tangents but that’s a little silly
