Is there anyone in the wider community with experienced of resolving yellow triangle issues, that can assist me in recovering my part - using dialog (phone call / text) and images of the history only (I can not share images of the model but can describe)? I would be happy to pay for such a service. Thank you.

I’m really sorry that you ran into this problem, but unfortunately if you turn off the backup service, you have to do it for yourself.

I did not turn off the backup service through choice. I can not use the back-up service due to the commercial nature of work. You clearly have no options to support users in this arena, and I highly suspect I’m not alone! As someone with IT background, deploying backup locally is as simple as on a server.
Should I decide to continue with Shapr3D I will need to deploy a folder backup locally due to History bugs.

I am not sure that this will help… But you _do_ have a backup of your MS Laptop? If so, complete and ‘versioned’, it may be possible to retrieve and go back to a working file. I use S3D in MacOS (and iOS) but I expect that there are similar structure to be find in W11. I may install on my W11 to try to find out.

Take a look at this thread

> [@I lost all of my work after a reinstall](https://discourse.shapr3d.com/t/i-lost-all-of-my-work-after-a-reinstall/26955/7):
>
> Sorry to hear about the predicament. I am not sure this will help as I am on MacOS and iOS AND does backups (especially versions of this folder). I frequently store complete versions on and off line of: /Users/NN/Library/Containers/com.shapr3d.shapr/Data/Documents/workspaces Maybe you can find an equivalent path in Windows in a backup. (To restore just a specific previous workspace I find the one I need in the folder (some clue is in the folders and time stamps). Then go off-line for safety…

a while ago but maybe still valid.

He said he has an IT background so I’d assume he runs proper back ups on his system with client work. He should be able to jump back to retrieve the lost data in his model if his backups are set up properly.

RevenueMonkey… jump into your backups and grab you pre-error model.

A little disingenuous. Shapr3D uses UWP folders, backup and recovery isn’t that simple.

Why did a part disappear and other parts move to the root of their folder structure!

I suspect its something to do with references missing. On reflection, it might well be there were missing references before closing the project but this was not evident to me as the history panel was closed and the part in question was not missing and everything was in its correct folder.

When reopened the project 2 hours after closing, I expected to see exactly what I saw when I closed the project.

Why did a part disappear and other parts move to the root of their folder structure! Still unanswered and as far as I can establish its certainly not important enough to Shapr3D to reach out and learn more.

For those not pleased with my tone or vent, you may feel different when this issue hits you.

I am having the same issue. I think it is related to complex history trees. I started to “merge modeling steps” routinely to keep the history less complex. I have not had a failed save yet after doing that. If i let it get too long the model will eventually open with yellow triangles and errors with broken topology.

I spend hours trying to fix and figure out what was going on while loosing many models. sometimes it would load properly but it felt random and I could not repeat the process. I gave up and started everything from scratch. Days of work lost.

Thank you WeBasic, I’ll do that when I get to stable design points where history isn’t needed. What do you call big though? I’m wondering how many lines.

Certainly a better response than Shapr3D - they seem to suffering Organizational Deafness; either that of Founders Syndrome. Thank you again.

I’m afraid to open old projects and check the history tree length but it is definitely more than 40. I have a lot of planes, sketches, booleans. Booleans require lots of calculation usually so I have a feeling that’s not helping!

When opening the a failed project the loading dialogue freezes and doesn’t show progress. Working models do. I believe you observed the same thing. I can surmise the program cannot handle the complexity of loading long history chains and fails.

While I understand programming complex software like this is a miraculous feat, I do wish shapr3d would pull this broken update to save other people from our pain or pop up with a warning. It’s a massive bug. Worst of it being you won’t find out until your hours, days into a project 🙂

Once you charge for software the minimum for pushing
an update with a show stopping bug should be a humble “we fucked up”. Once they get it fixed it is a nice quality of life update so for that I am thankful

Old projects don’t have a feature tree.

There must be a culture or language barrier which is exasperated by text over the Internet 🙂

Every time you respond to a customer having massive bugs it feels (subjectively) like you ignore the real issue and reply with obvious statements that nobody is confused by. It feels like talking to a robot who doesn’t understand what the actual issues are. Frustrating lol

“Old” projects in context = projects that were already corrupted by this history tree bug.

I’m sorry if I make you feel like that. I’m trying to answer as many posts and emails as possible, and I’m trying to focus on the actionable parts of the post. Thus I’m often very brief, but that’s because I don’t have the time to address every statement in a post. The reason I did not address the rest of your post is because I can’t help without more information. If you want your issues to be fixed, please provide a bit more detail:

- operating system
- Shapr3D version
- a detailed description of how to reproduce the issue
- ideally a video recording or a screenshot of the bug
- if possible, the design archive (.shapr file). If you can’t share it publicly but can share it with our support team, we handle it confidentially

The issue @WeBasic and I are having is very likely the same problem @Jon1 is having. You said to Jon1, quote: “We are aware of an issue that can cause this in rare occasions, and we are working on a fix”

What is the number of that fix, its title and objectives, so we can track it?

Windows 11, happens on both an intel and AMD system. Rtx4090 on both platforms. All drivers, chipset, bios, OS are up to date.

Problem started with the migration to history tree based builds up to the most current patch pushed through the shapr3d updater.

I feel like I have given a very detailed cause of events. And have found a workaround which points to where the bug is occuring.

Point one of your QA team members to this thread. It should be easy to reproduce. It appears to require substantial operations and history tree length. I can provide a corrupted project file if someone from your team reached out.

They can’t reach out, due to privacy reasons and data protection we can’t really provide support for bug fixes on the forum. The best way to report bugs and get them fixed is to open a support ticket:

Sometimes it’s not possible to help unfortunately. As you mentioned in the other thread on this forum, you can’t share any information about the design, can’t share the workspace, and turned off the automatic backup service, and did not back up your designs for yourself, so it’s not possible to restore the design. In this case there is not much our support team can do.
