# I have a problem with sweeping tool… is not sweeping…

Hi, this is my first post and I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I’m trying to do a sweep between 2 objects, one is smaller and other bigger. I’m marking both faces + guide line and it is constantly showing fault “Swept body has self-intersection in at least 1 of it’s geometries…

You could use a loft operation then use then use the shell tool.

Your sweep is failing because the arcs your created did not make an enclosed sketch. A closed sketch can be made into a body. If it is not enclosed (enclosed if it turns a light blue) it won’t revolve, sweep or extrude.

I cannot see your video. However I think I can still help. I suggest you create a “Plane : on a point on a curve” on one of those circular edges. Then select the plane to sketch your profile onto. Then it should sweep.

Oh and you can use section view to help see what’s going on. Very handy sometimes.

**Sweep** doesn’t work that way. In its simplest form, sweep works with a sketch, like a circle, perpendicular to a line or spline. It does not work between two circles. What does work between two circles is **Loft** however since you want a curved conical wall between both of your surfaces, you should use **Revolve.**

I think he’s not connecting the lines into a closed sketch properly.
