# Import to a Plane or move to a Plane

I have made a Parametric drawing of a telescopic tube. Each tube is dependant on the variables defined for base tube diameter, wall thickness, length & a gap. Each sketch of a tube is drawn on its own plane and I can move those planes up and down with an extension variable.

So far so good.

Now I want to import some components to be positioned relative to each extension variable plane so that those components also move with the relevant tube.

I can’t find a way of importing to a particular plane, or of moving an item from one plane to another.  
I can draw a new item on a particular plane. I could draw each component from scratch and they will then move with the plane when I change the extension variable. …..but I cannot import to a plane, or move to a plane.

Anyone got any ideas?

Since you have your variables setup you could use the Align tool to align and it will move with your variable updates.

That seems to work, but I will have to play around some more with the Align Tool to establish what exactly it needs in order to align a part with a plane.  
I am out of circulation for 2 weeks, but I am glad to have made progress before I go.
