Please turn back the feature to delete sketches while working without deleting bodies

In history, you can merge history and than it is possible to delete sketches without affecting the bodies.
There are lot of threads covering this topic already

Can you go into greater detail of your explanation regarding merging history because I too would like to delete some of my sketches while keeping the bodies intact.
