Hi, I want to export this design of a medal to a Bambu printer and I’m not sure how do I do it for multiple colors. I put the bodies in a different folder per color. What kind of file should I export it as? there should be 3 colors like Navy (base), Yellow for the running person/design and border, and White for the text. When I import it to Bambu the file seems wonky so I can’t select the sections for the colors

.3mf is the only one supported for color IIRC. It “might” be buggy in the most recent releases You can paint it in Bambu studio OR with my Prusa’s I changed colors at different layers. Clunky but it works. This method works by making color groups by height. "If you wanted nights in tights to be RED make it a bit taller than the 2026 yellow (for example) change color the next layer after 2026. The advantage: MUCH less poops AND faster

The disadvantage is looking from the side you see banding. And you must have 3 layers at least for less bleed thru so higher layer height is better.

Thank you sir. I don’t do too much multi-color because of the poop waste with Bambu. Just started a deep dive on reducing waste to nil if possible. I am considering an X2D in my very near future. I’d rather assemble than waste that much material.

I am looking for, or designing items for, a list of useful giveaways to print the waste into. They need to make the the slicer more aggressive on that issue.

Same here. I use AMS for easy-to-remove supports and sometimes for surface text

I use it mostly for storage of most often used materials.

My setup isn’t a typical AMS — I have two AMS HT units. I use them mainly for drying materials before printing and keep both PLA and PETG loaded at the same time. I mostly print in black and grey, with the occasional dark green.

One of the things I found is spooling in and out with the AMS on print jobs and then setting idle for a bit, about 6" to 30" of filament can get brittle, notably PLA. And guess where they break off…

Next time it happens I am cutting out the bottom of the AMS and making a door out of the cutout IF I don’t leave it out entirely. There is no real need not to leave it out. I run 2 air purifiers + a dehumidifier in my little shop.

I’m also going to shorten the run from both AMS units, moving the hub for straight shot into the bowden tube. No reason to leave it attached to the back of the X1c. That will eliminate another friction loop.

I run one into the back of my PC. Going to print a cowling for it. So much cleaner inside now.
