# Problem upgrading to 5.551.0 on macOS

short version: upgrading by dragging new app into /Applications produces strange error about locked files. I have a workaround (noted below) but the old version shouldn’t have been “locked” to begin with. Reporting the issue in case you haven’t seen it yet.

launched shapr3d it asked me if i wanted to download the update. I did. I quit it. waited (why does it take like a literal minute for the process to quit after the window goes away?) then tried to drag the icon onto applications. got a weird error i’ve never encountered before.

can no longer launch Shapr3D.

attempted to delete it. For some reason the .app folder in /Applications is “locked”

🤦‍♀️ why macOS? why?!

dragging it to the trash (after first confirming that yes i want to delete a locked file) works.

installing the shaper3d app from the dmg where the old one was seems to have fixed the problem

first: DMG view i’m downloading from (just so you know my starting point). I just dragged the icon onto your symlink to Applications.
