In one of my projects I have to select a lot of edges (30+ edges) and if I don’t tap exact at the right spot I lose the entire selection then have to start over, which is maddening. Is there a way to regain the selection you lost?

If not, then a feature request I’d like to make is… When an entire selection is lost then it can be regained by the undo button. You could include an option switch to turn this feature on or off, so people that want it can have it and not for those that don’t.

With the latest version, deselecting everything is undoable. Simply tap on the undo button 🙂 (make it sure that you are running the latest version)
