# Removing bits from object

Ok… So I’m still toying around with getting things going in my head. For this round, I’ve got what is basically a half funnel and I want to mount something like a handle on the side of it… I created a construction plane and was able to get as far as you see in the image below. However, I’m not sure how to remove the extraneous parts as shown below… Thoughts??

Greetings,

Here’s one to remove that ‘bit’. Use the Subtract tool. Select the rectangle, click Next, select the cone, select Keep Original, click Done. In my example I used Union as a final step to join the two bodies.

Hello again,

Here’s another method. Use Union to join the rectangle with the cone. Select one surface you want removed, and…remove it.

thanks!!! That’s the ticket!! Worked like a charm. I had tried the subtract tool but didn’t see any noticeable change but hadn’t thought about checking the layers/planes… one more thing to ponder as I move forward with learning this stuff!!
