# Render Mode Lighting and Shadow or Model Intiial Plane Change

**The problem that this feature will solve:**

_When modelling starting from a particular plane, the render mode assumes what “down” is. As the model progresses, if you’ve chosen the “wrong” starting plane then later go to rendering mode, the shadow renders at the side of the model instead of underneath. Light is projected from the side instead of the top._

**Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:**

_Ideally, being able to re-initialise the orientation of the model so the rendering system can keep ligthing and shadows as they are, or less ideally, allow the position of the light to be modified to cast shadows from different angles._

**What can’t you achieve without this feature?**

_Every time I open my model I have to switch the view to a ZX plane to model nicely (otherwise camera rotation etc is “off”) and when rendering the model the light and shadow are cast agains the side of my model instead of the top._
