hello, I am becoming interested in some of the scanners, or lidar gizmos, or whatever they are.

Is there any of the scanners that produce a file that can be imported into shapr3d?

You will be able import them as Mesh files but not as CAD format.

There are ways to convert them to cad but that is up to the conversion software not Shapr.

Even if you get it converted to mathematical CAD data file will be huge unless it’s a simple part (most likely Shapr can’t even open it), but even if it’s a small part now you are dealing with not enough resolution.

In Shapr it’s just used for reference, like photos it’s good enough to use as reference.

Thank you.

It’s helpful to know that mesh files can be imported.

3d Scanning could use some AI learning, based on my experience.

I tried everything, photogrammetry, 3d scans, finally sawing it into multiple section gave me the most accuracy.

I wanted redo the process in Shapr but gave up.

It was first formed, sanded and cut by hand out of wood. I 3d scanned the final piece, but wasn’t clean and had too much data. So I sawed it into multiple cross section, scanned cross section and used that as a template to basically loft in Blender to make this final piece. Which I 3d printed and sanded to make t…
