Hi all,
I have the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon printer. In Bambu Studio there is the simplify Mesh function. I can’t tell if it does anything. If it does work then is is so quick. My latest parts were going to take 14+ hours and by using the Simplify Mesh tool it went down to 11+hours. And then by selecting Sport speed mode it is now at 9+hours.
1: Shapr3d needs a similar function.
2: My Shapr3d Project that keeps crashing has 14,000+ Triangles I think it is called. I tried copying and deleting about 1/2 the project.;I had multiple versions in the same project file. I thought the “triangle” count would go down. But it did not affect anything.
3: is there a project cleanup tool in Shapr3d? If not, there needs to be a way to cleanup the project files and consolidate as I can do in other apps.

Thank You

The feature is kinda there.

You can modify the resolution level, but its pretty much useless who is going to input numbers, a slider with low, medium, high and show the triangle count.

Also in Bambu Studio Simplify is lowering the resolution by taking away triangles to make bigger ones.

Check the Show wireframe and you can see what its doing.

That is true that Bambu Studio is just deleting and creating bigger triangles and that is what I want. With my parts in this particular project I don’t need a high level of detail. But I can tell Bambu Studio the level of detail. I don’t think Shapr3d has a way to analyze the files/objects and allow the user to select the level of detail. The resolution at which you work in is not the solution. This is manly for ipad/computers that have slower processor. So every time I drag/modify something in shapr3d. I see this happening when The file/project load. You can see the triangle count going way up. Now at 15,000+. It just adds more triangles until it can’t handle it anymore and crashes. Just gets to big. With AI there need to be a way to manage this. Either automatically or by manually selecting the simply part tool or whatever shapr3d wants to call it.

One more point that I hope the developer read. That’s why I mad such a long post so we can get this fixed and not just mask the real issue, here. So not an attach on you personally.
I adjust the dimension of my simple wall parts back and forth, back and forth. Because I can’t get them to line up correctly. I tried making sure each parallel wall. Etc. is the exact same length. I started using the Right/left views and that helps, some. But the back and forth adjustment just adds more triangles to the mesh. Adding to what is a really simple shape into something that is very complex internally. With no way to keep it simple.

I don’t know if I fixed my Crashing of my project issue. But by asking Gemini AI it told me I could delete the history to help fix my slooowness issue. I don’t know if just deleting the history or deleting the linked sketches was the issue. Since I did both and I changed nothing else in my project setting. So far my moving around and the like is SOOOOO fast now. I was struggling for many days with this issue. So far I am very happy that I am back to peak performance.

But it still would be nice to have a builtin mess/triangle consolidation tool like in bambu studio. That can work on multiple objects, one selects or just on one object that you want cleaned up…
