# Splitting an object in half by selection

Hello - I opened a publically available SDLPRT file in Shapr3D and I would like to modify it. You can see the object generally consists of two parts (Top and Bottom). There are some small features that I would not like to be split in half (Specifically the rectangle shape in the front of the object and the circular input ports. What is the best way to select and move just the top half of this object?

Here is a video of me attempting to select and move, but I get an error.

Double tap on the body to select it instead of using the window selection. With the window selection, you are adding many faces from other bodies to your selection, and you are trying to move those too.

Thank you for the suggestion, but when I double tap, the whole object is selected, so I need a way to cut the object in half (so that I could 3d Print it) - preferably by selection. Maybe this is not possible and I just need to create a new plane and split the object in half.
