# STEP file exporting broken

Exporting files is broken again. Exporting STEP files on the latest version of Shapr3D results in a single component file, where all the different parts of your model or assembly are joined into a single part. This is frustrating for importing into rendering software such as Keyshot as it means parts needs splitting or surfaces separating. Shapr3D remains one of the best value, but most temperamental CAD softwares on the market. Please focus on fixing BUGS and listening to the community on future releases.

- A screenshot of the broken exported design
- The Shapr3D design with which you’re experiencing the issue: [Instantly export to .shapr format](https://support.shapr3d.com/hc/en-us/articles/12826120862620-5-560-Instantly-export-to-shapr-format)  
You can right-click the project on your dashboard and “Save as .shapr”.

It’s honestly so frustrating. I get a response to this issue, but not my previous feature suggestion that I first posted months ago. This software just cannot be used for professional / business purposes due to the number of workflow barriers and bugs. I don’t think I can continue using Shapr3D unfortunately.

Hi,  
Test on Mac Apple M2 Ultra, Sequoia 15.3.2.  
In Shapr3d, I create a project containing 2 bodies, each with different color.  
Menu : File \> Export to \> STEP  
I import it in Keyshot and I find my 2 elements separated with their color.
