# Switch of the area selection on I pad

Hi, I want to place a new fitpoint, but if I press the pencil, there will be always the area selection.is there something t switch it off?

Hello!

When you try to add the control point, please make sure to have the Spline tool selected. As you tap away right after finishing the spline, the default Line tool will be grabbed. If you select the spline to add control points while the Line tool is active, the area selection will appear. However, if you tap on the spline while the Spline tool is active, a new control point will be placed. Let me share a short video, I hope it helps:
