Hi!

New to Shapr3d, and had some feedback for you after going through the tutorial. Might be useful if you’re looking for any improvements from a noob onboarding perspective:

This is feedback for the video tutorial on building the desk organiser:

- After you build the initial cuboid and lay the first sketch down (to cut out the top of the block), it tells you to set the dimensions of the sketch. It forgets to tell you in the video to press shift to do this – I only noticed it after watching the video a few times and seeing that it shows the shift press in the bottom right. But it’s quite unclear.
- Would be nice if the values were spoken out in the video (eg. when setting dimensions). At the moment I have to pause or rewind to see the values, and it breaks the flow of the tutorial.
- It doesn’t tell you how far down to drag the initial cut out, which lead me to problems at the very end of the video where the final cut out for the phone was cutting through lots of the inside compartments. I actually had a fun time figuring out how to fix that, but I can imagine some people might get frustrated with it.
- At the end, it tells you to select all edges. It starts by saying “double click the body to select it, or click and drag and press tab to select edges only”. The structure of this sentence implied to me that there is a way to select all edges when double clicking it, but I couldn’t find a way to do that. If there is a way, would be nice to know (if not, then would be nice to know that also – it’s unclear why it tells me to double click it otherwise).

Hope it’s useful!

Hi,

First of all, thank you for your feedback. As a user with little or no prior experience, you’re exactly the kind of person who can help us identify what could be improved in future versions.

Based on your comments, it seems that what you’re mostly missing is some additional guidance in the narration for the actions and values that are also shown on screen. In future versions, we’ll include more information in the voiceover to make these steps clearer.

Regarding selecting the edges: if you double-click the body to select the whole body and then activate the Fillet tool, the edges will be selected automatically, and you can then apply the fillet.

Thank you again for sharing the feedback.
