# Where are files stored?

I recently edited a file on a different iPad and now when I go back to the file on another iPad it has not changed… where are the files saved/stored? Can I edit on file on different iPads (not at the same time obviously)

Hi!
Currently the files aren’t synced across devices (we are actively working on this feature), meaning they are stored on the device’s local storage. If you want to later edit them on a different device, please export them (.shapr format is recommended for this scenario), and either airdrop it to the other device, or save them to a your cloud storage, so you can import them to the other device.

I broke 2 iPads already and I must say that frequent saving everything from IPad to NAS at home reduce some pain.
