Parameter Cards are working well for me. When using Translate, I like that I can pick start point and endpoint without having to drag from start to end.
HOWEVER… Translate no longer works for sketch elements. Previously, I could pick lines in sketch mode, then tap out of sketch mode and the lines would still be highlighted. I could then Translate those selected lines.
But now, there’s no ability to select anything but bodies, and of course no Done button (at bottom center) to complete a translation.
Yup. I loved using it for extruding a face to another face fast (click drag). Now I have to take a few extra steps by doing quick math, then clicking in and adding or subtracting the difference just to get a face to line up with a face. Sucks when I’m in a groove flying through a design, then wham… chug chug chug math math enter click enter… sucks. This has to be a glitch they’re working on… right? Right!? Right!!!
Hey @canuckborder,
If you’re talking about our “Extrude to” command, it’s still available through the parameter card if you change the type of the distance to “To Object”. On the other hand we’re working on bringing back the arrow-dragging behaviour as well with an even better and more intuitive flow than before.
But try translating Sketch elements. That used to work, but it doesn’t now.
If you edit a sketch and select some of the lines in the sketch, then edit the sketch edit mode, the lines are still selected. But you cannot translate those lines. Now, you can only translate bodies.
That’s a major issue.
Are you able to get it to work with sketch elements? If so, how?
I cannot. And to be honest, I’ve never used that because I never needed it.
It works for me with sketches. First, select the Translate tool, then the sketch. Alternatively, select the sketch first, and then use the search function (magnifying) to select the Translate tool.
Here’s what I’m getting when I try that
I have to use the Replace Face Tool
If you want to stretch or extrude the face directly to match a neighbor’s height rather than moving the whole body:
- Go to Tools > Replace Face
- Select the face you want to change (the top of your cube).
- Select the target face you want to match (the top of your cylinder).
This works. However it’s an interruption to a smooth workflow.
Prior to this version, I would simply hit the “n” key and click two points. The surface of one would then match the other.
Ok… this is weird. I just attempted the same thing… Clicked “n” key,
Clicked cylinder centre point, then clicked cube centre point.
Then clicked top surface of cylinder and it worked.
I’m wondering if this feature is buggy… It doesn’t always work that way in different files.
When I experience it again, I’ll screen grab or try to make a video of the file I’m in.
Fingers crossed… I seem to be able to get it to work “sometimes”. I’ll take responsibility and assume it’s my error somehow.
Extruding and translation, project functions are disasters, not bug repair at all.
Do you want to consider changing the title to lose stability and increase bugs?
Your definition of stability update and bug fix
It should be aligned with the user.
Or do you have a different understanding of the definition of these two words?
In the past two years, I have watched you mess up the update every time.
Increase user workflow and operation troubles
Can u help me understand your issue with extrude? Other 2 are already being worked on and we will issue an update soon
What if i cant see background to activate the action im tryng to perform. Is there a button ?
