Hi everyone,
Over the past weeks you’ve given us a lot of feedback on Parameter Cards. Some of it was hard to read, but we’re glad you wrote it anyway. Several shortcuts didn’t work reliably, some flows needed more clicks than before, and some options were harder to find or had moved. We went through your posts, picked the top five issues that came up most, and fixed them in 26.200.
This post covers what changed and what we’re working on next.
The five issues we fixed
1. Card docking on iPad
Cards can dock into the top or bottom slot of an open sidebar. The sidebar resizes to make room and returns to full height when the card is hidden or moved.
2. Switching modes on the gizmo
You can now change these modes on the handle, without opening the card:
- Extrude: Switch between One-Sided and Symmetric.
- Chamfer: Toggle Equal Distance or Two-Distance directly from the primary handle.
- Fillet: Toggle G1 / G2 directly on the handle.
- Scale: Quickly switch between Uniform and Non-uniform scaling on the gizmo.
3. Extrude “To Object” by dragging
If you drag the extrude handle off-axis onto another body’s face, the extent switches to To Object and snaps to that face. If you release over an invalid target or empty space, the preview is cancelled.
4. Seeing what the tool is doing
- Shortcut cycling: when you cycle an option with a shortcut (for example Extrude types or Chamfer/Fillet methods), a small bubble now shows the parameter row, the selected option and its icon.
- Auto labels: parameters that evaluate automatically are now labeled, for example “Auto (Union)” on extrusions, so you can see what Shapr3D chose.
5. Shortcuts and 2D/3D tool launching
Some shortcuts didn’t work reliably, and tools with both 2D and 3D versions (eg. Move, Scale) made you choose a variant before you could start. These tools now wait until your selection makes your intent clear, then pick the 2D or 3D variant. Inside a sketch they default to 2D, and in modeling they default to 3D. The default shortcuts now live on these combined commands.
Bonus: clearer Project command names
Several commands were confusing, so we renamed them:
- Imprint Edge → Project As Edge
- Project (Sketch) → Project As Sketch
- Project (File) → Import Project
Using Project on a non-planar surface now shows a hint pointing to Project As Edge.
New in this release
- Sketch Fillet: You can now apply fillets between arcs and lines by simply selecting corners or connecting geometry.
- SVG Import: Bring vector graphics directly into your workspace.
What’s next
- More fixes based on your feedback are in progress.
- Next release: Sketch Slot and Sketch Extend
- Later this year: a first milestone for Threads & Holes
