I would expect that area selection (click-drag on a mac) behaves the same as selecting multiple individual items, except for being more convenient. But that is not what I am seeing. I have included 4 screen shots that describe my experience:

The first screen shot (“Before Equal”) shows multiple vertical lines that were selected using area selection (dragging down and to the right with a mouse, starting at the top left).

The second screen shot (“After Equal”) shows the result of applying the “Equal” constraint to the selected lines. Notice the result is completely broken.

The third screen shot (“Before Equal 2”) show the same vertical lines selected individually using shift select with a mouse. One difference between the 2 “Before…” screen shots is that the last line selected individually show an angle from the previous line segment.

The fourth and last screen shot (“After Equal 2”) shows the expected result of applying the “Equal” constraint.
