The problem that this feature will solve:
When you use the new Wrap & Emboss tool to project sketch faces around a body, if the sketch is generated from a pattern, and the number of faces change post wrap, the wrap does not update to reflect the new pattern. This is because the wrap edges are generated from specific faces in the sketch. The ability to set the ‘wrap items’ to be the entire sketch (so all faces in the sketch), rather than just specific faces in the sketch would solve this.
This would be especially useful when the size of the body and the sketch are all tied directly to variables. I am attaching 3 screenshots to show the problem. I had a sketch pattern based on variables - when the variables change and it updates the sketch pattern, the Wrap & Emboss history item is updated, but it only includes the faces that were originally selected rather than all the new faces in the sketch pattern.
Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:
This feature should allow me to select a sketch as the wrap item, rather than just specific faces. This way, if the desired outcome is that every face in a sketch is projected, the Wrap & Emboss history item updates to include/exclude any new/removed faces.
What can’t you achieve without this feature?
There is nothing I can’t do without this, it just slows the process down. The benefit of using variables, linked sketches, and history is that changes to historical actions cascade down the history tree. This benefit is lessened if you have to go back and manually update references when something higher up in the tree changes.
