How to set the background to pure white in the rendering?

Dear Sharp 3D team,

I want to know how can I set the background to pure white in the rendering (while the default is a little bit grey). The operation system is MacOS. Many thanks!

Zonghu

Choose Colored mood environment and and set background to #FFFFFF

Thanks for your kind help!! Actually, I want to take a screenshot of my modeling into a report, so I want the background can be the same as the Word page (like the attached pic).

Perhaps in that case transparent background is a better idea.

Yeah! That’s it! Thank you very much!

similar question: is there a way that i can use the “black and white stage” environment preset but have a transparent background so that my video shows up with a true white background instead of the way the standard white background shows up slightly gray? how would i do this?

hi @xdrakosha, your idea of the transparent background works for me if i use a screen capture as a snapshot. i want to do a screen recording of me panning through the model as a video and have the background white. is there a way to get a white background for that? thank you!

What’s stopping you from using the same approach, but recording a video?

thanks for responding. when i use transparent background the screen capture comes out with white background. when i do a screen recording of me panning with transparent background it shows the transparency checkerboard. the background looks slightly gray in your video, which is what i am trying to avoid. i want bright white.

You’re right. Here is another video with white background

oh, that’s great! how did you do that?

Recorded video in screenshot mode.

hi @Xdrakosha

could you explain how to record a video in screenshot mode?

i only see the capture button which creates still images.

thanks!

Just use external recorder, for example standard mac screen recorder.

@Xdrakosha i’m not sure what is getting lost in translation…

i am using the standard mac screen recording on my ipad. when i do so the standard background is gray (like in your first video)

i tried using the transparent background suggested in the thread and using the standard mac screen recording and i got a checkerboard background.

i liked the 2nd video you provided showing a white background and asked how you did it, you said you “Recorded video in screenshot mode.”

i do not see a way to access screenshot mode and am wondering if you can provide instructions for how to access it?

thank you

By pressing “Screenshot” you’ll get into screenshot mode.

Transparency - ON makes background pure white.

@Xdrakosha hm. thanks for that. maybe its just not visible on ipad. i don’t know why i don’t see that.

Because you’re in rendering mode. Get back to modeling and you’ll see the “Screenshot” button.

oh, ok. thanks for pointing that out. i wanted the screen recording in rendering mode.

Just switch Display mode to “Visualised” and you’ll get same result as in rendering mode.

But that will bring shadows and lights so you’ll end up with gray BG again.
