Making holes in a sphere

Here’s my version with a slightly different take on the stitching…

Nice job. Was your workflow similar to what @PEC did?

Not dissimilar, I guess.

I aligned a single hex segment vertically and sketched a series of small arcs along the curved edge.

From those arcs so created the stitches (in-line).

I then rotated each individual stitch 15deg.

Next I duplicated the entire row of stitches along the remaining 5 edges of the hexagon before union them all into a single body. Then I duplicated and aligned the bodies to create the ball.

A draft of 20.5092deg is the magic number for me btw which I’ve used since my SketchUp days.

Next time I’ll make the stitches independent of the bodies to make it easier to change colour.

@welshsteve nice and neat. The stitches are great, and yes, it will be cool to have them in a separate body to change colors and material easily.
