Project Curve and Prioritise 3D Sketch

Currently to create a complex loft I need to use several Boolean operations to construct a complex guide curve in 3 dimensions from “pseudo” solid bodies. Here is a boat hull for example

I have a side and top sketch that define the shape of the hull, from there I need to project the guide edges to create the points that all the loft section connect too. To do this I’ve needed to create 2 dummy solids to give the loft sketches defining points for the top and bottom compound curve. This required several extrude/cut/intersect steps. In other software, this is a 1 step process, like below, select the 2 sketches, project the curve.

This would considerably improve the workflow for designers that work with complex curved shapes, often designed from multiple 2D views, like concept sketches etc.

Further, I would like to stress the importance of some other requests for a 3D sketching tool, it is a real limiter to what can be designed with complex loft and sweep functions. For instance, I’ve come the realisation i can no longer continue to design this boat in Shapr3D as i cannot define all the components correctly to follow the hull shape. It requires being able to define 2D shapes easily in 3D space in relation to the shape of the solid part from set distance from control points. The mocked up example above, the side battens cannot truely be spaced at set distances apart that are perpendicular to that point on the curved hull shape, so you cannot create accurate geometry to design CNC cut parts from it.

This would be an amazing addition to the software. I know that others seem to be dissatisfied with the parametric side of the software, I can say that coming from other parametric design software in my career, for the price it is incredible, so big thumbs up to the Shapr3D team, keep up the good work.
