Scale transform failed because of constraint

Below I have detailed a scenario which I believe is a bug

  1. Sketch a circle (or any other)
  2. Set circle dimensions by clicking dimension label
  3. Choos scale transform tool
  4. Scale the sketch using gizmo or by value
  5. Error! “Transform failed because sketch constraints couldn’t be solved”

But, on the other hand the below works

  1. Sketch a circle (or any other)
  2. Choos scale transform tool
  3. Scale the sketch using gizmo or by value
  4. Works!

To conclude, the error "“Transform failed because sketch constraints couldn’t be solved” appears only if the sketch dimension was set by using the dimension label

Is it possible you have the circle dimension locked?
If you unlock the circle, the scale should work.

yep, you are correct! circle dimension was indeed locked.
apparently, any time dimension is set by the label the dimension is then locked, why? what’s the raeson?

Auto-constraint is turned on by default.
You can turn it off on the Constraint Settings:
