Season 2 Challenge #2 is LIVE | Extrude 2/5

It’s time for Challenge 2 :seedling:

What you’re building

Create a plant holder inspired by the reference image below.

Your goal is to recreate the object using a simple modeling workflow and the limited set of tools allowed for this challenge.

Your constraints

For this challenge, your Design History may contain only sketches, extrusions, and construction Geometry

You may use construction/reference geometry to help build your model, including planes and axes.

Any other modeling feature will result in an invalid submission.

What you need to submit

Submit a screenshot of your project showing the volume of the final object via this link, following the guidelines listed in the form, by Thursday, 27th, 23:59 CEST.

Your submission will be checked against the challenge requirements, and successful entries will be added to the leaderboard.

Scoring reminder

  • 10 points — complete the challenge

  • 6 bonus points — successfully complete the model

  • 5 points — 1st submission

  • 4 points — 2nd submission

  • 3 points — 3rd submission

  • 2 points — 4th submission

  • 1 point — 5th submission

  • 3 extra points — after participating in 3 challenges

  • 10 extra points — participate in all 5 challenges

One important rule

Don’t share your solution or the final body volume until the challenge is over.

You’re welcome to discuss the challenge, ask questions, and share your approach, but keep the final result to yourself until the deadline has passed.

If you get stuck, ask the community. Someone might be able to point you in the right direction without giving away the solution.

Good luck with Challenge 2! :herb:

This looks fun

Yeah.

Angles nested in angles. Pythagorus would be delirious.

Saudos. Tengo una duda ¿Cómo puedo ver los puntos que voy ganando?

Something feels off in the section view to me

Also, I indicated this to the person posting the task, because it is not clear where the 300mm/10 degree arc starts from.. the side view contradicts the section.

Hello participants,

You are indeed right when you say that something feels off about the section view. Due to certain technical limitations, the presented drawing is the best version we could provide within those limitations.

However, it is not clear whether the 300mm/10 degree arc starts from the top line of the spike or from the line offset from the outer line. Therefore, in this case, both solutions will be accepted, provided that everything else is according to the drawing.

To prevent such cases in the future, we have included a field in the submission form where you can provide a description or explain any doubts you may have if you are unsure whether you have understood the assignment correctly or to describe the decisions that you make while modeling.

Wow, only challenge 2 and it was a real brain-teaser! I almost gave up, but then woke up in the middle of the night with the answer in my head. Loving how much these challenges force you to think outside the box. Now I can sleep again!
