Season 2 Challenge #4 is LIVE | Extrude 4/5

Challenge Number 4 is live! :construction:

Time for another modeling challenge — and this one comes straight from the street. :eyes:

What you’ll be building :vertical_traffic_light:

For Challenge #4, your task is to model a traffic cone using the provided dimensions and reference images below.

Your goal is to recreate the object as accurately as possible while working within the limited toolset allowed for this challenge.

It might look simple at first glance, but getting the proportions, transitions, and overall shape right with a restricted set of tools could make this one more interesting than you expect. :wink:

Your Design History may contain only:

  • Sketch

  • Extrude

  • Construction tools

That’s it!

Any other modeling tool appearing in your Design History will make the submission invalid, so think through your strategy before you start building.

There may be more than one way to get to the final shape — choosing the right approach is part of the challenge.

Once your cone is complete, take a screenshot of your project where the final object’s volume is clearly visible and submit it through the link below:

Every submission will be checked against the challenge requirements. Valid entries will earn points and move you further up the leaderboard.

  • 6 bonus points — successfully complete the model

  • 5 points — 1st submission

  • 4 points — 2nd submission

  • 3 points — 3rd submission

  • 2 points — 4th submission

  • 1 point — 5th submission

  • 3 extra points — after participating in 3 challenges

  • 10 extra points — participate in all 5 challenges

Keep the solution secret

As always, please don’t post your completed solution or reveal the final body volume before the challenge closes.

You can absolutely discuss the task, ask questions, exchange ideas, or talk about different modeling approaches — just avoid giving away the final result.

If you hit a roadblock, use the community. A small hint might be all you need to find a completely different approach.

I can see the revolve tool looking at me from the toolbar, single tear rolling down its cheek. :joy:

Good chance I’m missing something here, but I kinda think this distance can’t be derived from the drawing. Am I being stupid?

I’m stuck on that dimension as well. Without an overall height for the cavity or relation between C and E in some way, I’m not seeing how we can calculate the distance…

IMHO, that’s not a tip. It’s a required parameter that was missing from the original task.

I have to agree here. I also figured the “correct solution” was to do with the cones having to stack, but for a practical construction you’d surely ad some measure of tolerance or clearance. I think this should have been specified in the drawing.

This can’t be a tip. There is no constraint or measurement to derive this the measurement from the original design blueprint.
