One of my biggest problems with using Shapr3d for a little over a year as a elderly 73 year old hobbyist is that after creating a 2d sketch and then extruding it, when I attempt to sketch on some extruded surface and then extrude, chamfer or fillet it just doesn’t work. So then I try to create a construction plane that aligns with my new sketch, which sometimes works, but often fails. Is there something I am missing or is there an easier way to do this kind of thing.

That is the purpose of that plane?
Would be much easier to understand your problem if you could record a video.
Thank you. So even without creating a new construction plane, you are able to tap or click on some extruded surface that is different from your original sketch plane, and then sketch on this surface (say, a circle) and then chamfer or fillet that circle?
(I don’t have a clue about making a video…. I mostly use shapr on my ipad).

Easily.
On iPad it’s even easier then on the mac. There is internal recording feature and then you can upload that video, for example, on Youtube and share it.
