Trying to make a sphere turns into a giant donut

Hi Everyone,

I’m not sure if this has been answered in the past but I’m trying to make a sphere…I make a circle then draw a line through the center, trim half to make the half moon, I hit revolve, pick the axis like all the videos I look up say to do and as soon as I pick the axis it turns into a giant donut with open sides. Can anyone tell me why it’s making such a giant open surface?

Because its revolving around axis and it is very clear from your photo that this axis not collinear with your section.

Use the straight line in your sketch as the axis. You can use almost any straight line anywhere as your axis.

I usually draw a circle and cut it in half with a line. I then select one half and revolve it around the centre line I just made.

That is the correct method. It looks like you selected the world origin axis or Shapr did by default maybe?
