A Roof Filter for Our House... and of Course for the Neighbor also

One happy designer! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

This project took quite a few prototypes before it was finally approved.

Every new version was first printed in pink PLA. Not because I liked the color, but because it was a roll of filament I really didn’t like and wanted to use up first. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: My husband became the official “roof tester,” climbing onto the roof with every pink prototype to check the fit.

When I finally heard the words, “It fits!”, it really felt like a little celebration.

The final version was printed in gray PETG on my Snapmaker U1. Thanks to the SUNLU S2 filament dryer, the print came out beautifully.

The purpose of this filter is simple: it keeps leaves and other debris from entering the rainwater downpipe, helping to prevent blockages while still allowing rainwater to flow through freely.

My husband is happy, our 80-year-old neighbor is happy, and we immediately printed the first three for him.

Funny enough, I had sent him photos of all the pink prototypes and jokingly told him that pink would be the final color. He was actually a bit disappointed when it turned out to be gray! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hi @margriet,

This is such a great solution, and it sounds like it was a really fun team project too!

Thanks for sharing it! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
