The problem that this feature will solve:
Easily switch bodies for an alignment. When changing the Target Body in the history of the Align Tool, a ‘missing reference’ error arises if the initial body is deselected. Thus at the same location in history a new Align needs to be made, which is cumbersome.
Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:
A simple extra option in the History at Alignment like ‘Reference’. Clicking it will show the highlighted reference edge or face which was originally selected and an option to change it. Now it only shows an option to edit the Target Body, which is nice for adding extra bodies, but doesn’t work when replacing the body.
What can’t you achieve without this feature?
This feature will provide a lot more flexibility in updating models which rely on aligned parts. Especially useful when using the Align tool to create an Assembly sub-routine with the ongoing lack of a native solution. When importing several assembly parts and aligning them, it is very cumbersome to update the parts, when one of the original parts has been updated in its original shapr3D file. Having this extra option will make it very simple, by just removing all related to the earlier imported part from History. Importing it again and updating the associated Alignment in History and voila!
