Imported meshes can’t be used with the Align tool (which generally makes sense, since they lack the required data).
Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:
If, however, one or more bodies are selected along with the mesh, the Align function should still be usable, using a face or edge from one of the selected bodies, and the mesh should just be moved along with aligned body.
What can’t you achieve without this feature?
Using the align tool when selecting a group of objects that includes one or more imported meshes. E.g., if an imported mesh is part of a group of bodies and needs to keep its relative position with them.
