Best 2 in 1 laptop for shapr

Looking for the best 2 in 1 laptop for shapr because I mostly do 3d printing, so I need a laptop for the slicer software. My 2015 macbook just stopped updating so I need a new laptop so I figured I get something that worked with a pen too. Any help would be appreciated.

I was researching this same thing recently and the choices are a bit overwhelming. I was not able to find any definitive recommendations for use with Shapr3D online. What I decided to do was try a drawing tablet instead, which lets you get a touch screen and pen that is larger than the largest available lapstops and lets me use the horsepower of my already existing PC. Granted there is no portability with this setup, but that feature doesn’t matter to me. If I’m doing CAD, I’m sitting in an office surrounded by parts, not roaming around in public. I’ll post back here again once I find out how well the drawing tablet worked out. The tablet I went with is the HUION Kamvas 22 Plus.

Thank you for your input. Unfortunately I can’t use a tablet because I do a lot of 3d printing and there are no slicer softwares that works on tablets. I was looking at the HP spectre 16 with intel core i7, 32gb ram and the nvidia 4050 gpu. It is a 2 in 1 but I think the only thing I’m seeing is it might get a little hot if pushed too hard.

The device I’m talking about is actually not a tablet computer, it is a drawing tablet that acts as a 2nd monitor and allows you to draw directly on the screen with a pen. Normally this is used by artists, as the pen is pressure sensitive and can be used to control line thickness by pressure when used in drawing programs. I thought it could work to simulate a Surface or iPad type computer, which maybe it could if I didn’t screwup and buy the wrong kind. The Huion Kamvas models don’t allow touch input, which is hard to believe and they really should mention that limitation on their amazon page due to how unexpected that limitation is. I mean, how can you have a stylus but yet not respond to finger input also? So now I have to send this thing back and find a plan B. Maybe just getting a space mouse and learning the keyboard commands will be just as fast. I just wanted to try the touch input method without having to buy an expensive high end touch screen laptop, but failed.

BTW, that laptop with the i7, 32gb and Nvidia 4050 should actually work quite well. I did see that spec mentioned somewhere as a good one to get, but didn’t come across a laptop that had the nvida 4050 in it. The iPad itself is not a high end machine and even that runs Shapr well, so I don’t think this software is particularly demanding.

Remember the old laptop laptop coolers?

I think I am going to go with either the asus rog flow x16 or the asus pro art px13. Both are over powered for shapr3d but hopefully it lasts me more than a few years for any updates that happen. They are 2 in ones and all the the reviews look good for stylus use. Spent way too much time yesterday doing research on these but I think it will pay off. Thank you for the feedback and input.

I decided to keep my Hurion 22" drawing tablet and pair it up with a SpaceMouse Pro. The space mouse gets operated with your left hand and can do all the object manipulations much better than touch gestures can, then you can program all the buttons on it to generate context specific in-app menus that show up right where the pen pointer is. If setup properly it should be possible to do most things without ever having to touch a keyboard or even move the pen beyond where you are currently drawing. I have a feeling a good quality CAD mouse is still going to be better than using the pen though.
