Creating a Golf Iron Head

I’m pretty new to CAD and I’m diving into a project I’ve always wanted to tackle — designing my own golf iron from scratch. I’ve been learning the basics of modeling and want to start applying those skills toward something practical.

If anyone has guidelines, workflows, tips, or resources for creating a golf iron (e.g., shaping the head, setting loft/lie, blending lines, or even best practices for starting sketches), I’d really appreciate any advice.

I’m open to any suggestions — from CAD techniques to manufacturing considerations — as I’d love to learn the right way to approach this from the start.

Thanks in advance for any help you can share

First find some good side, front and back, plus top photos.

You can use them to create a basic template which you can work around to create your own.

These look generic enough to build around.

Sketch this and extrude just the pure oblong shape and at the correct angle slice the side shape to get that angled look.

Sketch the front and shave it off the iron head front, use fillet to round out edges.

Hardest part will be joining the head to the rod. Look for joining pipe tutorials in this forum.
