Design a pull latch?

I’d like to modify the attached clip to be a pull latch to make it easier to attach and detach. I’ve never designed a pull latch before, so I’m not even sure how to go about it. Does anyone have any good ideas?

Maybe something like this:

Not sure what limitations you may have. If the clip is somewhat flexible then something like this might work.

It is somewhat flexible when printed in PETG, but I plan to freely share this design and don’t want to restrict the material.

PETG would be a great candidate. PLA may be a bit too rigid and PLA Pro might work okay. It all comes down to how much flex you need to remove the clip. I’ll share a couple of other variations in a few minutes.

That’s along the lines of what I was thinking. I’d beef up the upper part so I could make the push/pull rods thicker.

Here are a couple more variations. Worth doing a 3D print test if you can.

I just used this for an internal spring. PLA tough+. Repetitive use in a toy.

Interesting. I wonder how flexible PLA Tough+ is. Can you show a picture or two of your printed internal spring in the relaxed and compressed state?

It was for this. I printed one for each friend for our new years party. I printed a couple for teachers and they wore them out. Not the springs though. The stop for the launcher breaks the barrel where it’s stop hits the top of the groove… either more walls or a modifier to fill solid at those points.

No noticeable distortion after this. It sets the print profile automatically and I did not look at it. I can load and get the important bits if you need.
