So I am modifying a step file with holes in a flat surface I need to make other features using the hole centers and i cant see how to get it to show me the center of a hole in sketch mode. I even need to make a line from hole center to hole center and
Im not sure how to do it

Does your circle look like on the right?
Circle on the right is made with curves.
One on the left done by math.
Looks like both Its just a circle with no lines out side it and no points anywhere

If you made them by math then it’s not a curve so maybe your sketch is now hidden?
As soon as you extrude your sketch Shapr hides that sketch and you want to unhide it on the items panel on the Left.
If you unhide your sketch it should look like this with the center point and have a dark highlight.

Project the edeges , if it from curves (this happens with downloaded files ), make a tangent lines with coincident constraint, and draw a line perpendicular at this point . The mid point of this line will be the centre.(inside the the sketch)
You can check it, with three times of this process, if all lines crossed in one point the sketch is circle…
