Make a sketch that represents the centerlines of the double loop rod. Then use the Sweep tool.

As I browse this forum, I am steadily finding more and more of your amazing solution videos @TigerMike, and bookmarking them all 
You should make a Shapr3d course titled something like “simple alternative approaches to 3d design with Shapr3d”
